I did this after learning of the death of a good friend. I hadn’t spoken with her in far too long, but she was the sort of friend that you didn’t have to talk to in order to have them affect your life every day. In fact, it’s safe to say that she had a big hand in making me who I am today. She taught me how to accept people despite their faults. That’s pretty huge in my book.
I’ll miss you terribly Linda. I hope to do your memory proud.
I agree with your comment whole-heartedly. I, too, had lost touch with Linda in the last couple of years; however, she continued and continues to affect my life. She has definitely been an important part in making me who I am today. I believe that comment is true for many of the folks who frequented the Ham I think of her often and will now miss her dearly.
This is absolutely beautiful and heartbreaking. I’m so sad and sorry that you had a reason to draw it.
@Heather – Agreed. That seemed to be the theme that just kept coming up over and over at her service: “She was a mother to me.” “She was a friend when no one else was.”
She was an amazing woman and we’ll all miss her.
@Jill – Thanks. It doesn’t capture everything – I’m sad to say that my artwork never quite does – but it catches the edge a bit.
Nice work Matt and an excellent perspective. I’m sorry I missed her service – will call you to hear about it. She will be missed.
